FAQs
What should I expect on my first visit?
Watershed is a community that wants everyone to know that there is freedom, friendship and rest found in the finished work of Jesus. We are a community made up of people who may be everything from skeptical of church, searching for a place to belong, or just looking for a community to grow in and with. You can expect to come into a welcoming hello handshake or high-five, laughter, and conversations, or you may feel free to slide in and slide out if you’d like. Just know that we value you and your presence with us. Our worship is filled with energetic modern music, down-to-earth preaching anchored in the good news of Jesus, and a relaxed atmosphere where you can come and just be. Please come as you are and enjoy a cup of Aldea coffee and Bowerman’s Donuts before, during, and even after worship. We would love to have you join us, and get to know you.
where do i park?
We meet in the gym of the Anchor building located on the northeast section of the Harderwyk campus. All entrances are handicap accessible and seating is made accessible to everyone. For access to the Anchor building, enter the parking lot off of West Lakewood Blvd.
what should i wear?
Some people come to our services dressed very informal, wearing jeans and a t-shirt. while others may decide to come a little more dressed up. We leave that choice up to the individual. Whatever you feel comfortable wearing is what we want you to wear.
Can a visitor take communion?
Yes! We take communion on the third Sunday of each month as a tangible reminder of God’s gift to us in Jesus Christ. We believe that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is welcome to take communion, whether they are a church member or not.
do i have to give an offering as a guest?
As a guest, we do not want you to feel pressured to give an offering if you don’t feel led to. That is a decision between you and God. If He leads you to give as a guest, then feel free to do so, but there is no pressure from us. We do not pass an offering plate but accept your donations in the offering boxes near the entrances to the Anchor Gym. There is also an opportunity to use our credit card kiosk to give a one-time gift.
what are some ways to find community at harderwyk?
Gather around the dinner table at Community Night, learn together through Bible Study, support each other through life’s difficult moments, share our musical talents by joining a musical group, and have fun together. We also have groups for Men, Women, and Young Adults. Watershed hosts potlucks on the third Sunday of each month and a men’s gathering on the second Sunday of each month.
Jumping in to serve is often a great way for people to find community at Harderwyk. Some of the easiest ways to serve are on Sunday mornings in nursery or Sunday School, brewing coffee, or welcoming people as they arrive. You can find other ways to serve here: Opportunities to Serve Others at Harderwyk and Serve Others in our Holland Community.
what denomination are you affiliated with?
Harderwyk Ministries was organized as a Christian Reformed Church in 1882.
