FAQs

What should I expect on my first visit?

Celebration is a classical worship service with a pipe organ and hymns. On several occasions throughout the year, you can enjoy choir, bell choir, brass, and string instruments. Celebration is a very welcoming community, you can expect to be greeted by those worshipping with you. The service starts with announcements, followed by a couple of hymns, and then the pastor will preach from the Bible. We close the service with some hymns and gathering for a cup of Aldea Coffee, Bowerman’s Donuts, and fellowship.

where do I park?

We meet in the Sanctuary in the Red Brick Church Building.  The handicap entrance is located under the carport on the north side of the Red Brick Building.  For access to the Sanctuary, enter the parking lot off of 160th Ave.

what should I wear?

Dressing up is not a requirement to worship with us. Some do wear their “Sunday best” but you’re also likely to see someone in slacks and a casual shirt, or even jeans.

can a visitor take communion?

Yes! We take communion on the third Sunday of each month as a tangible reminder of God’s gift to us in Jesus Christ. We believe that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is welcome to take communion, whether they are a church member or not.

Do i have to give an offering as a guest?

As a guest, we do not want you to feel pressured to give an offering if you don’t feel led to. That is a decision between you and God. If He leads you to give as a guest, then feel free to do so, but there is no pressure from us. We do not pass an offering plate but accept your donations in the white offering boxes near the entrances to the Sanctuary. There is also an opportunity to scan the QR code to give a one-time gift using your mobile wallet.

What are some ways to find community at Harderwyk?

Gather around the dinner table at Community Night, learn together through Bible Study, support each other through life’s difficult moments, share our musical talents by joining a musical group, and have fun together.  We also have groups for Men, Women, and Young Adults.

Jumping in to serve is often a great way for people to find community at Harderwyk. Some of the easiest ways to serve are on Sunday mornings in nursery or Sunday School, brewing coffee, or welcoming people as they arrive. You can find other ways to serve here: Opportunities to Serve Others at Harderwyk and Serve Others in our Holland Community.

what denomination is the church affiliated with?

Harderwyk Ministries was organized as a Christian Reformed Church in 1882.

How do I join the church?

Contact Pastor Bill to set up a time to talk about a covenant partnership at Harderwyk. This casual conversation can be done after worship on a Sunday morning or during the week over a cup of coffee or a meal. Bring your questions about Harderwyk, church partnership, Baptism, or Profession of Faith.
